The lodge is a self-catering establishment in the Dinokeng Game Reserve (DGR) just north of Pretoria. The DGR was official opened in 2011 after the introduction of the Big 5, earmarking the first free roaming lions and elephants in over 100 years in Gauteng. The latest additions are a small herd of black rhino and a pack of hyena giving you the full Big 5 reserve experience. The area is malaria free.
Nestled against a koppie on west facing slope with sweeping views of the Boekenhout Spruit valley, it is an idyllic African bushveld setting. The lodge offers affordable self-catering accommodation. It is ideal for couples, families, small school and church groups as well as companies for midweek and weekend breakaways. The lodge is small pet friendly. Activities include amongst others, a swimming pool, pool table, table tennis, trampoline, volley ball, mini soccer, swings for kids, TV in the conference room, game drives and self-drives. An off road caravan park at the river, no fences, just you, the big 5 is ideally located on the banks of the Boekenhout Spruit with an unparalleled bushveld atmosphere. It is rustic with only a bush toilet. Only off road vehicles and preferably experienced campers.
